The Calvary North Adelaide Hospital Pre-admission Clinic is a free service, which provides patients with information and support. Your surgeon may refer you to our Pre-admission clinic or you may contact us to make an appointment.  Our goal is to better understand your needs and ensure you have a positive stay with us and are discharged safely back into community.  Here your will be provided with information about your procedure or treatment and hospital stay. Calvary’s Biography Program was established in 2008 and offers Palliative Care patients the opportunity to share their life story or record reflections, reviews of specific times, or events.  Underpinning the program is the belief that the process of telling one’s story can be therapeutic, life-affirming, and assist in improving a person’s emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

The Program is run by trained volunteers who visit patients in the Mary Potter Hospice, Calvary North Adelaide and Central Districts Hospitals, and the Community. Patients are offered six one-hour recording sessions with a biographer who will transcribe the sessions and work with the patient to edit the story and include photos or images if desired. The program is completely free, and upon completion patients receive two bound copies of their story plus an electronic copy on a USB. Every biography is confidential and recordings are transcribed respecting the integrity of the participant’s own words. Voice recordings are not kept.

The program is generously sponsored by HPS Pharmacies and supported by the Mary Potter Foundation.
