Refugee Mentoring Program
The Refugee Mentoring Program (RMP) is a community initiative designed to provide individuals from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in an Australian workplace.
The program aims to help participants clarify career goals, explore educational pathways, and integrate into their new community by fostering social and cultural connections.

About the program
At Calvary, we see work experience as a chance to build practical skills while contributing to something meaningful. Our program connects participants with experienced teams and mentors, helping them grow in confidence and capability, while making a positive impact on the community.
Once accepted into the program, participants take part in an induction process that includes career counselling to help identify their goals and expectations for the placement. They’ll also meet their mentors and be introduced to the departments where they’ll be working.
Placements run over a 12-week period and are scheduled one to two days per week, for three to six hours per day. We offer flexible arrangements to suit each participant’s availability and needs.
This program provides valuable exposure to real workplace environments and encourages participants to develop a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and community involvement.
Placement areas include:
Nursing
Allied Health
Aged Care
Administration
Hospitality
Community Care
Education
We aim to create a supportive environment where participants feel connected, challenged, and valued — both as learners and as contributors to the broader Calvary community.
