The Consortium proposal remains subject to definitive transaction documents and customary approvals including relevant state and territory regulatory approvals for the transfer of hospital licences.
The Consortium members look forward to becoming custodians of these hospitals (once binding agreements are signed and regulatory approvals are obtained) and providing continuity of high-quality health care for patients and their communities, and certainty for their front-line staff.
Speaking for the Consortium, Calvary Health Care CEO Damien Bruce said: “This is an example of what can be achieved when organisations work beyond individual interests and focus on the long-term needs of patients, communities and the health system as a whole. Together with our Consortium partners, we are committed to a transition that is thoughtful, responsible and focused on creating a sustainable future for healthcare across Australia.
“This transaction has brought together a group of organisations with different histories, strengths and approaches, united by a shared commitment to ensuring these services continue to provide high-quality care for the communities that rely on them.”
The proposal has the support of landlords HealthCo Healthcare & Wellness REIT (ASX: HCW), the HMC Capital-managed Unlisted Healthcare & Life Sciences Fund (UHF), and Northwest Healthcare Properties Australia and its parent company Vital Infrastructure Property Trust (TSX: VITL-UN).
“We want to acknowledge the constructive engagement of all Consortium members throughout this process. While each organisation brings its own perspective and expertise, we are aligned in our commitment to supporting staff, maintaining continuity of care and providing a stable foundation for the future of these hospitals and health services,” said Mr Bruce.
Calvary will work closely with Healthscope to provide as many opportunities as possible for staff in the corporate head office.
