The agreements will see Hobart Private and Holmesglen transition to Calvary Health Care, a not-for-profit provider with a long-standing commitment to community-based, mission-led care. This is exciting news, enabling Calvary, in its 140th year of ‘being for others’, to strengthen services and care in the communities surrounding Moorabbin, Victoria and Hobart, Tasmania.

Holmesglen Private Hospital in Moorabbin complements Calvary’s existing aged care, retirement living and home care services, supporting more integrated care across the continuum.

In Tasmania, the acquisition of Hobart Private Hospital builds on Calvary’s established presence and commitment to the continuity of care in Tasmania and delivering high-quality, not-for-profit private hospital services to the local community.

Calvary will work closely with Healthscope to meet the conditions of sale over the coming months, which include customary conditions and necessary regulatory approvals, including from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

This agreement represents a positive outcome for the hospitals and the communities they serve, providing a clear pathway to long-term sustainability and continued access to high-quality private healthcare services.

“These acquisitions reflect Calvary’s long-standing commitment to caring for communities and ensuring the ongoing availability of high-quality private hospital services,” said Damien Bruce, National Chief Executive Officer of Calvary Health Care.

“We recognise the uncertainty experienced by staff and clinicians during this period, and our focus is on providing stability, continuity of care and a strong future for Holmesglen and Hobart Private Hospitals.”

“We look forward to welcoming our new staff, VMOs, and other partners in care to Calvary Health Care in due course and to working closely with the Victorian and Tasmanian governments as the transition progresses,” Mr Bruce said.
