Maternity services

Pregnancy is an exciting and emotional time for mothers and families.

Whether you’re a first time parent or welcoming a new addition to the family, at Calvary North Adelaide we provide holistic women centred care tailored to your individual needs to ensure your birthing experience is safe and positive, allowing you to focus on enjoying this magical life event.

Our history

The first recorded birth at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital was in 1902, just two years after it was founded. The Maternity Ward as it is seen today was constructed in 1940 and it is from this date that the number of births in the hospital is referenced.

We look to the future and beyond, as we continue to service the needs of the community with care and compassion and hold true to the core values on which we are founded.

Level 5 special care nursery

Calvary North Adelaide Hospital is equipped to provide care for babies from 32 weeks gestation and highly dependent newborns.

What does Level 5 special care mean?

Level 5 status means that Calvary North Adelaide Hospital is equipped to provide care for premature and highly dependent newborn babies. This care can include time in an isolette, phototherapy for jaundice and the placement of feeding tubes and drips.

Having a Level 5 special care nursery also means that mother and baby are less likely to be separated if the baby requires specialised care.
