Calvary St Luke's Hospital
Leading healthcare in Launceston
About this hospital
Formerly owned by St Luke’s Health Fund, St Luke’s Hospital became part of the Calvary group in 2004.
At St Luke’s Hospital, we are the leading provider of palliative and end-of-life care across the north of Tasmania and are the only private mental health facility in Northern Tasmania that offers a range of holistic and innovative treatment programs for inpatients and outpatients.
Our three operating theatres and a day procedure unit provide day and overnight surgical medical services across a broad range of specialties including orthopedics (our largest specialty), ENT surgery and dental surgery. Other services include palliative care, chemotherapy, general medical services, mental health care and sleep studies.
Calvary St Luke’s Hospital is affiliated with the University of Tasmania, and is a first choice placement for a variety of students.

Community councils
Calvary St Luke's Hospital has two community representative groups:
1. Calvary Community Council
The Calvary Community Council is a committee of community volunteers who meet regularly to manage our community benefit programs. These programs include: Community Council Grants which provide funding for local community projects who prioritise the health needs of vulnerable and marginalised Tasmanians and The Mary Potter Foundation which provides funding of hospital care for members of the community who experience economic hardship.
2. Calvary Representation
Consumer Representatives serve on a number of key committees to ensure the quality and safety of patient care at Calvary is excellent and that the consumer voice is heard in order to improve patient experience. A state-wide Community Advisory Council Group provides advice on more general community and stakeholder engagement. Through this group local consumers and communities advise Calvary leaders when it comes to designing and planning our services. Representatives are drawn from a broad cross section of the community.
You matter. We care about you.
