Fees & payments
The out-of-pocket ED fee at Calvary Holmesglen Private Hospital is $450, paid on the day. If you return within 14 days with the same illness or injury, the ED fee is waived.
Whether you have private health insurance, WorkCover, Veterans' Affairs cover or are uninsured, you can be assessed and treated at our Emergency Department.
Emergency Department fees are not covered by private health insurance as per the Private Health Insurance Act 2007. Private health insurance covers patients once admitted to hospital.
A fixed fee of $650 applies to non-Medicare eligible (international) patients. $100 applies to subsequent follow-up visits
What to Expect
When you arrive, the triage nurse will assess you and determine the severity of your illness or injury. A doctor will then decide on the best course of treatment.
We generally have shorter wait times than other emergency departments and you will be seen in order of medical urgency.
The following conditions are not suitable for treatment at our Emergency Department and will require transfer to an appropriate facility:
- Multi-trauma
- Psychiatric conditions
- Major burns
- Acute stroke
- Obstetric emergencies
- Pregnancy over 20 weeks' gestation
- General paediatrics
Our Emergency Department includes:
- 24-hour emergency medical care
- On-call specialists and surgeons
- Rapid triage and assessment
- On-site radiology — X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, CT and nuclear medicine
- Out-of-pocket ED fee: $450 paid on the day
- A fixed out-of-pocket consultation fee of $650 applies to all non-Medicare eligible (international) patients attending the Emergency Department at Holmesglen Private Hospital. A fixed out-of-pocket consultation fee of $100 applied to all subsequent follow up visits.
