One year anniversary for Calvary Lenah Valley Hospital’s emergency department partnership

In partnership with Care 24-7, Australia’s leading provider of specialist-led private hospital emergency department, the popularity of Calvary Lenah Valley Hospital’s private emergency department continues to build through word-of-mouth feedback.
Calvary Regional Chief Executive Office, Tasmania, Melissa Evans, said the results were strong and people had clearly voted with their feet when needing emergency care on any given day of the week.
“We are pleased our partnership with Care 24-7 allows us to provide effective care for people who are actively choosing clinically appropriate care that is available around the clock, that meets their needs,” said Ms Evans.
“Of the nearly 10,000 presentations, approximately 2,500 patients were admitted during this period.
“The strong admissions percentage of around 25 per cent is another measure of how essential this emergency department is to the local community.”
Ms Evans said the ED had been operating consistently every weekend since resuming seven-days-a-week operations on 19 August 2024.
“The current weekend activity of 20 to 35 each weekend day, shows there is strong demand for timely clinical care,” she said.
Managing Director of Care 24-7, Dr Sharad Pandit, said the team were delighted with the uptake over the last 12 months.
“Behind these results is an exceptional team of highly skilled emergency physicians, nurses and support staff, delivering care with expertise, efficiency and compassion,” said Dr Pandit.
