Regional CEO for Calvary’s ACT hospitals and services, Ross Hawkins, paid tribute to Auxiliary members past and present for their commitment and enormous achievement.

“The Auxiliary has been with us since day one, when the hospital opened in 1979, and has been an important part of the fabric of our hospital team over these many years,” Mr Hawkins said.

Like other similar groups, the Calvary Auxiliary had unfortunately experienced dwindling numbers over the years.

“We can’t thank members enough for their tireless efforts. It has been an enormous commitment of time, interest and energy in supporting Calvary Public Hospital Bruce and our patients through their volunteering and fundraising efforts."

“Coupled with the wonderful generosity of the Canberra community, this dedicated group has raised about $2.5 million towards equipment for the care and comfort of Calvary Public Hospital patients and staff.”

Calvary staff and the hospital community came together on Monday 8 May for a special lunch for past and present Auxiliary members and unveiling of a commemorative plaque to celebrate and show gratitude for the Auxiliary’s outstanding legacy.

The group will cease at the end of the financial year.
