Visiting Medical Officers, General Practitioners and other related medical professionals attending the industry event were able to explore the facilities, including eight state- of- the- art theatres and private rooms with ensuites and hotel like finishes.

Visiting Medical Officers viewed the eight digitally integrated theatres, including one with a hybrid cath lab, which accommodate everything from day procedures to complex surgery.

Dr Michael Gillespie, Deputy Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Calvary who has been a Visiting Medical Officer at Calvary Bruce Private Hospital since the hospital opened 30 years ago said he was looking forward to working in the new private hospital.

“Calvary has raised the bar on health facilities in the ACT with this new state-of-the-art private hospital and, as a consulting orthopaedic surgeon in ACT for 30 years, it means my patients have the opportunity to experience modern facilities with the same compassionate care,” Dr Gillespie said.

A new pedestrian bridge linking the private hospital to the existing Calvary Public Hospital and Emergency Department ensures Calvary can continue to share specialist equipment and services between hospitals, including an additional 47 private beds to admit emergency and elective patients from the public hospital.

Calvary’s National CEO Mark Doran also said the new $77 million private hospital “reaffirmed Calvary’s commitment to reinvest everything it earns back into staff, essential infrastructure and facilities and to meet the growing needs of the ACT community.”

The new hospital is complemented by recent upgrades to the Hyson Green Mental Health Facility, increasing capacity from 20 to 28 beds, and Calvary Clinic for Specialists. Hyson Green is the only dedicated private mental health clinic in the ACT.
