Confident Steps Program
‘Confident Steps’ is a Balance and Falls Prevention Program specifically designed to assist you in preventing and reducing the risks of falling, by helping to increase muscle strength and endurance and making changes to lifestyle, health issues or home environment.
Our program is held over six weeks, twice a week, for two hours with an exercise 1 hour session and an education and goal setting component. The sessions are conducted by a team of health professionals including occupational therapy, nursing, physiotherapy, medical ,dietetics, psychology and pharmacy.
The program covers the following information sessions:
- Falls statistics, information and goal setting
- Diet and nutrition
- The benefits of exercise
- Sensory Issues and Balance
- Medical issues
- Home environment
- Falls emergency plans
- Outdoor Hazards and mobility
- Community maintenance programs
