For me, it is a privilege, and one I don’t take for granted,” Ms Snook said.

“One of my memorable moments was with a lovely elderly gentleman named Joseph,” she recalled.

Christine's favourite memories

“He was 93 years old and had such a warm and kind presence. Every time I gave him a foot massage, I’d play him a selection of songs from Diana Ross and The Supremes, which he absolutely adored.”

“He would light up with every tune, his face full of joy, as though the music brought him comfort and peace.”

“I remember how much Joseph enjoyed those moments—the music seemed to take him back to a time filled with love and happiness. It was clear that he felt truly at ease during our time together,” she said.

Ms Snook shares that on one Thursday, as she walked into his room, he sat up in bed, threw his arms in the air, and exclaimed, "Where have you been? I've missed you!".

“It made me smile. He was such a joyful, appreciative man, and it meant the world to me that he looked forward to our time together so much,” Ms Snook said.

“We spent that afternoon listening to Diana Ross, and as I massaged his feet, I felt such a deep sense of connection. When I was leaving, I went up and gave him a kiss on the forehead. He took my hand in his, kissed it, and blessed me.

“That moment was so meaningful and filled with love, and I’ll always treasure it” Ms Snook said.

Ms Snook has reflected on the joys and sorrows of being a volunteer.

“As I get older, I’m reminded to live with purpose and love every moment,” she said.

“My mantra is simple: ‘live, Laugh, love.’ Make the most of every single day because we do not know how much time we have here on earth. “

“I hope I’m blessed with many more healthy years to continue doing my role I love at Calvary,” she said.
