Calvary invested $300,000 to expand capacity at the home, delivering a contemporary design that supports modern models of care for aged care residents.

The new residents in the Wattle Unit transferred from Calvary Bonbeach, and were welcomed with a special luncheon on Tuesday, 7 May.

Calvary Health Care’s Regional Chief Executive Officer for Victoria, Angela Littleford, said many staff had also transferred with the residents, providing a friendly face and continuity of care.

“George Vowell offers residents a bright and welcoming home with improved amenities, including single rooms with ensuites and other home comforts,” she said.

The refurbishment works also include air-conditioning, fresh paint, new carpet, and new beds and furniture items, and other finishes.

“We have been able to make the transition as smooth as possible for our former Bonbeach residents, and provide them with a lovely new home they can call their own”.

Like other Calvary homes in the Mornington area, Calvary George Vowell has adopted the successful Montessori memory support program which provides active support for residents living with varying levels of dementia.

The Calvary George Vowell home accommodates about 110 residents, many from the Mornington Peninsula.

This project is part of Calvary’s reinvestment strategy, which includes upgrading existing sites, new infrastructure projects and a multi-million dollar digitisation program to support safe and connected care for all Calvary clients, residents and patients.
