The new private hospital has been granted planning approval as Stage 3 of the health precinct, and the ECI is the latest step by Calvary to make the hospital a reality as it progresses through the detailed design phase.

An ECI enables an integrated contractor and design team to support innovation and drive efficiencies through the design and construction phases of the project.

Calvary and Northwest have also signed a new Memorandum of Understanding for the private hospital that will be adjacent to the existing public hospital.

Calvary will soon move its oncology services from the existing Calvary Central Districts Hospital into the Calvary Connery Centre on to level one of the new medical centre building, which is Stage 2 of the Playford Health Hub.

Calvary National Chief Executive Officer, Martin Bowles said the Calvary Connery Centre included 18 day oncology chairs plus three treatment rooms equipped to deliver chemotherapy, day haematology and other oncology treatments.

There are also ten consulting rooms in the medical consulting building, providing the existing VMO community with modern suites, as well as the opportunity for new VMOs to join Calvary at the new health precinct.

“Calvary is excited to be the private healthcare provider at the Playford Health Hub, which significantly increases Calvary’s capacity from the existing 13 day oncology chairs currently at Central Districts Hospital,” Mr Bowles said.

“Calvary is committed to supporting the people of the greater northern region of South Australia and the Playford Health Hub creates a modern and co-located public and private health precinct to support a growing region expected to exceed 600,000 South Australians by 2026.”
