Game on: Calvary Residential Aged Care Games go national
From team names and creative rivalries to movement challenges and championship moments, the Calvary Residential Aged Care Games are bringing residents, staff, volunteers and families together in a celebration of connection, participation and community spirit.
Ready. Set. Game on.
For the first time, all 57 Calvary Aged Care homes across Australia are coming together to take part in the 2026 Calvary Residential Aged Care Games.
Building on the success of Calvary's inaugural 2024 South Australian Aged Care Games, this year's event marks an exciting new chapter, transforming a much-loved local initiative into a national celebration of connection, creativity, teamwork and community spirit.
Over the coming months, residents from every Calvary Aged Care home will take part in a series of challenges and activities designed to bring people together, encourage participation and celebrate the unique strengths of every individual.
From designing team flags and uniforms to tackling movement challenges, brain games, creative arts activities and championship events, the Games offer something for everyone.
And while there may be a little friendly rivalry along the way, the Games are about much more than competition, they are about connection.
Across the country, homes are already embracing the Games spirit. Team names are being chosen. Flags are being painted. Uniforms are taking shape. Residents are training, creating, strategising and preparing to proudly represent their homes on the national stage.
From creative challenges and team-building activities to movement events and brain games, excitement is building in homes across the country as residents prepare to represent their communities.
The Games have been designed to create opportunities for residents to stay active, engaged and connected while celebrating participation in all its forms. Whether competing in a movement challenge, contributing to a creative project, testing their knowledge in Brain Games or cheering from the sidelines, every resident has a role to play.
Importantly, the Games also bring together residents, staff, volunteers, families and friends, creating shared experiences and lasting memories that extend well beyond the competition itself.

The national expansion follows the success of the South Australian Aged Care Games, where residents embraced everything from basketball and bean bag toss to memory games and quizzes, proving that participation, determination and community spirit have no age limit.
This year, that same spirit will be shared across the country.
Throughout the Games, homes will progress through different challenges, including creative Arts Week, Movement Week, Brain Games, championship events and cultural celebrations, with residents encouraged to try something new and support one another along the way.
The Games will culminate in a national celebration of participation, achievement and community, recognising the incredible effort, enthusiasm and team spirit shown by residents across Australia.
As preparations continue and anticipation builds, one thing is already clear: the Calvary Residential Aged Care Games 2026 are set to be the biggest celebration of resident connection, participation and community in Calvary's history.
