The Client Relationship Officer always has a smile on her face and is known for her friendly hugs.

Ask anyone: whether you want a chat or to track down the baklava of your childhood, Pattie always comes to the rescue.

“Pattie is an absolute star and residents, their families and her colleagues adore her. She consistently goes above and beyond for others,” General Manager, Calvary South Australia Aged Care, Ryan Midgley said.

Pattie’s love of working in aged care began during visits to see her mum.

“My dear mum was in aged care and I felt for a lot of people I’d meet when I was there visiting. They never had loved ones come and see them, so I just started to get to know them. I then started bringing them in crossword puzzles or chocolate – just a little gift to bring a smile to their faces,” Pattie said.

When her mum passed away, Pattie continued visiting the home. Eventually she decided to leave her sales job and start working at Flora McDonald.

“I adore the families, the residents and we have beautiful staff. I love caring, doing things for people and helping out.”

As the Client Relationship Officer, Pattie sees her job as an all-rounder role and no one day looks the same.

“I mainly do tours, admissions – respite and permanent – and even discharges, so my typical day can vary,” Pattie said.

“I’m pretty flexible and just jump in where I’m needed, but my favourite roles are always when I’m working with the residents.”

For those considering a career change to a profession with meaning, Pattie strongly recommends aged care.

“You just want everyone to feel like they’re part of a big family, which we feel like we are here at Calvary,” Pattie added.
