Associate Prof James Lynam (BSc(Hons), MBBS, MRCP, FRACP) Clinical Director, Medical Oncology, Senior Lecturer (University of Newcastle)
Overview
Prior to commencing at Calvary Mater Newcastle, Associate Prof Lynam spent two years as a Fellow in Clinical Trials at the Olivia Newton John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne. During this time he developed experience in the conduct of clinical trials and was involved in laboratory research examining the interaction between the immune system and prostate cancer. Since commencing at Calvary Mater Newcastle in 2014 Associate Prof Lynam has continued to expand his expertise in the conduct of clinical trials. He is the principal investigator for many local, national and international interventional trials. He is the current Chair of the Clinical Cancer Research Network which introduces strategies and innovations to improve clinical trial conduct within Clinical Trial Units within the Hunter. In addition, Associate Prof Lynam has interest and first hand experience in research related to predictive biomarkers, therapeutic drug monitoring, implementation of novel information technology into cancer care and psychosocial impacts of disease and treatment on patients.
