60 years of care
Celebrating 60 years of caring for our community
In 2026, Calvary Health Care Kogarah proudly celebrates 60 years of caring for our community.
Since opening on 22 May 1966, the hospital has supported thousands of patients and families at some of life’s most vulnerable moments, delivering care grounded in compassion, dignity and respect.
Founded through a generous bequest from Miss Sarah Fitzgerald and established by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, Calvary Kogarah began as Australia’s first purpose-built hospital dedicated to care for the dying.
Over the decades it has grown into a leading centre for palliative care and rehabilitation, serving communities across the St George and Sutherland Shires.
Our 60th anniversary is a time to reflect on the people, partnerships and generosity that have shaped our journey, while looking ahead to the future of care in our community.
Throughout the year, we will bring this milestone to life through shared stories, community activities and opportunities for our community to join the celebration.

Supporting the future of care
Through the generosity of our community, the 60 for 60 campaign will support projects that make a real and lasting difference for patients and families at Calvary Health Care Kogarah.
These initiatives focus on improving recovery, mobility and wellbeing, while ensuring our teams have the tools they need to deliver the highest standard of care.
Your generosity supports our mission in multiple ways, and Calvary Health Care Kogarah will prioritise your donation to the area of need.
Below are potential initiatives your donation could support.

Outdoor rehabilitation and wellbeing space
Creating a welcoming outdoor environment where patients can safely move, exercise and rebuild strength during recovery.

Patient transport ambulance
Providing safe and comfortable transport for patients travelling to appointments, rehabilitation services and ongoing care.

Rehabilitation robotics technology
Supporting innovative therapy that helps patients rebuild mobility and independence following illness, injury or surgery.
How you can take part

Whether you choose to give, take on a challenge, or purchase a raffle ticket, every act of generosity helps support the patients and families who rely on our care each day.
Together, we can honour six decades of service while helping ensure compassionate care continues for generations to come.
