'One plus' Program

Better for your career
Apply now Back to all graduate programs
Exclusive to Calvary Private Hospitals, our One plus program for outstanding graduate nurses is based on a best practice Transition Changes Model to support you to be the best you can be in your professional practice.
The program runs for one year and opens the door to exciting career opportunities in a choice of 11 highly desirable lifestyle locations.

About the Transition Stages Model

Based on Dr. Judy Duchscher’s transition theory research, the program for newly graduated nurses is delivered across 11 Calvary Private Hospitals across Australia.
New graduate nurses entering the workplace transition through different phases as they negotiate their way in the practice environment during their first-year post graduation. These phases begin with a reality check when they discover differences between the educational and practising environment.
Duchscher identifies three distinctly different stages in the transition process of new graduates into the workplace. The stages occur from
  • 1 -3 months (Doing)
  • 3 – 6 months (Being)
  • and 6 – 12 months (Knowing).
Knowing and understanding this theory allows our course coordinators to identify where their graduates are in their transition and are able to support them appropriately on their journey.
