Visiting hours and arrangements at Calvary Mater Newcastle have changed during the coronavirus pandemic to help protect our patients, staff and the community from COVID-19.
On most wards, two visitors per patient are allowed at a time. To comply with physical distancing requirements, the total number of visitors in a shared four-bed patient room remains limited to four. Children can visit our facilities if they are well, and must be supervised at all times if they are under 16 years of age.
Special arrangements are in place for patients who are approaching the end of their life. Please call the nurse in charge of the unit/ward you are visiting prior to your arrival.
All visitors must wear a mask before entering the hospital. Please bring your own mask wherever possible or the hospital will provide it for you.
Patients presenting to the Emergency Department will continue to be encouraged to wear a face mask when entering the hospital.
Visiting periods for most wards are 11am to 1pm and from 3pm to 7pm.
People wishing to visit the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit or Mercy Hospice should speak with staff or phone ahead to find out what visiting arrangements are in place in these specialist units. Phone 4921 1211.
Visit our COVID-19 page for information about other precautions and changes at the hospital.
