Calvary Kogarah Open Day Saturday 19 November

Calvary Health Care Kogarah hospital is celebrating it’s 50th year of service to the local community with an open day on Saturday 19th November 2016 from 8.30 a.m. – 4.00 p.m.

All are welcome to come and enjoy the open day which features market stalls, entertainment and guided tours of the facility throughout the day.

Calvary Kogarah holds a special place in the hearts of the people of the St George Area and Sutherland Shire. Made possible by the generous gift of the Fitzgerald Family, when Calvary Kogarah hospital opened its doors in 1966 it began caring for people of all faiths as a Hospice caring for the terminally ill, under the care of the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary.

Calvary Kogarah is of the community and has served our community for the past five decades. Because of the quality of that service, particularly in palliative and end of life care, Calvary Kogarah has achieved a special status for thousands of people who live locally. It is a sacred site to hundreds of families in the district.

That special nature began because of the generosity, care, welcoming embrace and compassion of the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary and has continued because of the effort and labours of the many dedicated staff who have worked here over the past 50 years.

Some within the community have experienced Calvary Kogarah as a place of passage, for others it has been a place of endings; many have found Calvary Kogarah to be a place of physical and psychological support, development and growth.

Staff strive to ensure that all that come to Calvary Kogarah find it a place of welcome and compassion and in that spirit, invite the local and wider community to join in the celebrations on the day.
