We offer a range of amenities at Calvary Health Care Bethlehem including:

Calvary Health Care Bethlehem has been designed so that everyone can easily access our facilities, using inclined walkways and ramps throughout. All levels of our hospital are accessible by lifts.

We have clear, straightforward signage throughout the hospital to make it easier to find your way around. The signage uses contrasting colours to help people with impaired vision.

Wheelchairs are available for use while at the hospital If you need a wheelchair, we’ll provide you with one at admission or you can get help at the main reception.

There are disabled parking spaces outside the front entrance.

There is no automatic teller machine (ATM) in the hospital. The nearest ATMs are located on Martin Street (near the Gardenvale Train Station) and the service station on the corner of Hawthorn and North Roads.

We provide all patients with free-to-air television at their bedside and there’s no charge for this service. Foxtel is available in the Jacaranda Room on St Teresa’s Ward.

A cafeteria space is accessible to patients and carers, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day on the first floor of the main hospital building in Saturn Street above the hospital reception desk.

A pop-up cafe operates in the space Monday-Friday from 8.30-11.30am. At all times, visitors have access to:

  • Free tea and coffee making facilities
  • Fridge, microwave oven and sandwich machine
  • Vending machines providing light snacks and drinks.

There are a number of cafes and Restaurants close to the hospital in Martin Street, Gardenvale, a 2 minute drive down Martin Street near the south east corner of the hospital across the Nepean Highway. Please speak to the Ward Secretary if you need assistance.

Patients and family members are welcome to spend time in the chapel which is open 24 hours a day. The chapel is on the ground floor past the main reception desk. Catholic mass is celebrated monthly. Check dates and times on the chapel door.

The closest chemists are located on the corner of Hawthorn and Kooyong Roads, and on the corner of the Nepean Highway and Gardenvale Road.

There are a number of florists located within the local area. Please ask Reception (dial 9) for directions. Vases are available on each ward. Please ask the Ward Secretary or Nursing Staff for assistance.

Calvary Health Care Bethlehem has a number of garden spaces for the use of patients and their families/visitors. They are ‘all-ability’ accessible from the walkway connecting the main hospital with St Teresa’s Ward (please see map) and include a special sensory garden. Self-catered birthdays and special events can be celebrated in the gardens by anybody that wishes to do so. Please consult with the Nurse Unit Manager or Ward Secretary.

For security reasons the gardens are closed after 6:00pm.

Hand and Foot massage volunteers attend the hospital regularly to provide support and comfort to patients. The massages are free and very popular with Calvary Health Care Bethlehem patients.

A hairdresser visits the hospital every Friday. Bookings can be made via the Ward Secretary.

Newspapers and magazines can be ordered via the Ward Secretary on each ward for a small cost.

At Calvary Health Care Bethlehem we offer compassionate emotional support and spiritual care for you, your family and friends. Our Pastoral Care Program acknowledges your beliefs, important relationships and all that is meaningful for you. It affirms your intrinsic value as a person.

Pastoral Care can help if you are:

  • Suffering anxiety or emotional distress
  • Experiencing a time of crisis
  • Feeling lonely or isolated
  • Grieving a loss
  • Making important decisions
  • Needing support with your religious/spiritual practice
  • Preparing for death

If you would like a visit from Pastoral Care please ask a staff member.

The onsite dispensing pharmacy at Calvary Health Care Bethlehem will provide discharged patients with a short supply of their prescribed medications. The pharmacy is not open to the general public.

Patients may use their mobile phone while at Calvary Health Care Bethlehem. To use the hospital phone, dial 9 for reception.

A podiatrist visit can be arranged via the hospital at the patient’s expense. Please discuss with Nursing Staff or the Ward Secretary.

CHCB has a sensory garden in a corner of the hospital grounds near Kooyong Road and Ludbrooke Avenue that has been created for the enjoyment of patients.

Snack and drink vending machines are located in the cafeteria on the first floor of the main building. These operate 24 hours a day.

A visitor’s Lounge is available for patients and visitors to use at any time. The room is located on Level 1 of the main building (next to the Cafeteria). The room offers a collection of books and information pamphlets in many languages. Access to a computer, Internet, TV and DVD player is available. The room also features a small children’s play area with children’s books available.

Free Wi-Fi is available for patients and visitors.
