At Calvary Mater Newcastle I… Volunteer in the Day Treatment Centre where people have chemotherapy. I do whatever needs to be done, some office work, talking with patients and carers.
I wanted to become a volunteer because… I’ve always been interested in the medical field but it is not where I worked. I wanted to give something back to the community and meet different people.
My favourite thing about volunteering is… The people I meet
My inspiration is… The patients I meet
My biggest surprise about volunteering is… how many people are suffering with cancer, you sort of know that, but here it is so visual.
My advice to someone who is thinking about volunteering at CMN is… Be well informed, volunteering here requires a lot more than you think, but it is well worth it.
