Calvary Cessnock Employee Jake Basista Receives Robert Beggs Award

On 29 November 2016, the annual Hunter Youth Express VET/TVET awards were held.

Students, teachers and representatives from organisations gathered to celebrate outstanding contributions to the VET/TVET programs and their investment of youth in the Hunter.

Calvary Cessnock employee Jake Basista was the Student Winner of the Robert Beggs Award for his involvement in the aged care industry.

Jake started with Calvary as a volunteer in 2014 and followed on to do his school based Traineeship. Jake said “My Great Nan was at Calvary Cessnock and I saw how she was cared for before she passed away. I feel that I am returning the favour for the care my Great Nan received when she was here”.

Calvary Cessnock Nurse Educator Ashleigh Johns said “He has been committed to Calvary and upholds the values in every way possible. He is an asset to Calvary Cessnock and it has been a pleasure to watch him learn and grow into a wonderful employee”.

Jake also won the Novaskill 2015 School Based Trainee of the Year.
