Sr Cecelia bringing sound to Calvary Cessnock

Sr Cecelia started volunteering at Calvary Cessnock in 2009. She uses her own hearing loss to assisting residents with hearing loss and improving their quality of life.

The transformation in residents who have been helped and supported by Sr Cecelia is heartwarming to see. Speaking with residents shows you are never to old to adapt to hearing aids as 95 year old Bill Hicks shows how quickly he has adapted to wearing his hearing aids. Sr Genevieve who has only had them for 3 weeks can’t believe the difference it has made to her daily life.

Hearing Awareness Week (Sun 25th Feb to Sat 3 March) coincides with World Hearing Day held on 3 March to raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world. Sr Cecelia was interviewed about her own experience and the help she now provides to others.  Read the ABC online article and watch the video here
