New name for landmark precinct
20th October 2021
Calvary Kooyong has been selected as the formal name for Calvary’s landmark retirement living, health and residential care precinct in Caulfield South in Melbourne.
Located on Kooyong Road, Calvary Kooyong conveys a sense of place and stays true to Calvary’s heritage.
The individual buildings within the integrated precinct have also been named.
The retirement living apartments are known as the Hyson Apartments. The name pays homage to where it all began for The Little Company of Mary, which founded Calvary Health Care, and acknowledges its beginning at a place called Hyson Green, in Nottingham, England. You can read more about our heritage here.
Hyson Apartments include 69 three, two and one-bedroom premium retirement apartments, each with a balcony and stunning views and exclusive access to a range of services and facilities. Visit hysonapartments.com.au to see and find out more.
The new residential aged care home is known as Huntly Suites, derived from nearby Glen Huntly Road, which was in turn named after a Scottish emigrant ship that docked in Melbourne’s Hobson’s Bay in the 19th century.
The Huntly Suites includes 83 suites for older people needing additional support and care and will provide the best in contemporary residential care. Expressions of interest are expected to open mid-2022.
Our highly regarded specialist health service will continue to be known as, Calvary Health Care Bethlehem acknowledging its history, strong reputation and its 80 years of serving the Glen Eira community and surrounding areas of Melbourne.
Calvary Bethlehem has a proud history of caring for families at various stages in their lives. It now provides specialist care for Victorians living with progressive neurological conditions, such as Motor Neurone Disease and Huntington’s Disease, and specialist services for people needing palliative care.
The integrated Calvary Kooyong precinct has been designed to support resident’ changing needs and enable residents to live well.
