Emergency Department Changes in Hours of Service at Calvary Hobart

Last Updated 20th September, 2022
Calvary Hobart prides itself on delivering high quality, safe clinical care to the Hobart community. We have done so for over eighty years, and will continue to do so into the future. Unfortunately due to medical staffing resource constraints, we can confirm that the Emergency Department (ED) at Calvary Hobart, Lenah Valley Hospital will temporarily reduce hours of service, until further notice:
- Monday 7.30am – Saturdays 5.30pm
During the closure periods from 5.30pm Saturday through til to 7.30am Monday, people seeking urgent medical care should contact their General Practitioner (GP) or After-hours GP service, or attend the Emergency Department at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
We understand the inconvenience this may cause the local community, however please be reassured that we are making every effort to ensure a clinically safe ED service is our highest priority.
We are currently working work to restore our ED service back to a 24/7 basis as quickly as possible.
Calvary has provided health care to the most vulnerable Australians, including those reaching the end of their life, since the arrival in Australia of the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary in 1885. We are a charitable Catholic not-for-profit organisation operating across all states and territories in Australia, with 14 public and private hospitals, over 70 residential care and retirement communities, and a national network of community care centres.
