Calvary Muswellbrook Retirement Community development appoints builder Richard Crookes

Calvary – one of Australia’s leading health, community and aged care providers, announced today the appointment of Richard Crookes Construction as the building contractor for the new $27m Calvary Muswellbrook Retirement Community located in Brennan Park, Cassidy Avenue, Muswellbrook. The construction is due for completion in 2017.

Richard Crookes Construction is a family owned and managed business, with over 40 years’ experience in the construction industry, the project will be coordinated out of their Tamworth works office.

Construction is due to commence within the next few weeks, bringing economic growth to the Muswellbrook community. At its peak the development will employ 60 people.

The integrated development will offer a 65 bed Residential Care Facility and 22 independent living units, built over several stages. On completion, 36 residents currently residing at Calvary Mt Providence will relocate to the new Brennan Park community.

Bryan McLoughlin, National Director Calvary Retirement Communities, said “Calvary Muswellbrook Retirement Community is designed to meet the needs of the community now and into the future, with 29 additional residential aged care beds, and 22 new independent living units in one location. “

The 22 independent living units will offer a choice of 1, 2 or 3 bedroom architect designed accommodation featuring natural outlooks across the surrounding parklands.

The Residential Care Facility includes high dependency aged care accommodation, including secure dementia and palliative care, as part of the first stage of works under an agreement between Calvary and Muswellbrook Shire Council.

Calvary National CEO, Mr Mark Doran, said today that “the Muswellbrook Retirement Community is an example of our commitment as a not for profit organisation to reinvest our earnings in essential infrastructure, facilities and staff. This is a significant investment to provide the Muswellbrook community with an increased level of accommodation and ongoing high standards of care and services.”

In welcoming the announcement, Mayor of Muswellbrook Martin Rush said: “Muswellbrook Shire Council is pleased to help by providing subsidised land to enable this essential development and I am sure I join with the rest of the community in welcoming the news that on-ground works will get underway in the not too distant future.”
