Breaking Ground at Calvary Ryde

Today marks the official commencement of the $60m redevelopment of Calvary Ryde Retirement
Community.

The redevelopment is on track for completion in early 2020. Plans commenced back in 2007 and after much discussion and lots of commitment, dedication, and enthusiasm the DA approval was granted in July 2017, works are now set to commence. Calvary Ryde has stood on historic grounds for over 125 years. This new Calvary development builds on over 40 years of care that the existing Calvary Ryde and Dalton Gardens has provided to the Ryde community and the people of the surrounding area. We have been encouraged by the strong support from the community as this development transitions into a reality.

Calvary Ryde service will include a 116 bed Residential Care Facility and 21 additional independent living units. On completion our current services will relocate from the existing Mary Potter and Marian residential
aged care service and be enhanced in size, giving Calvary the opportunity to deliver ongoing care and support to our residents in a contemporary aged care service now and well into the future.

General Manager, Mr Godwin D’Amato welcomed everyone and spoke of the significant history of the land and the journey the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary made.

Calvary National Director, Aged and Community Care Services, Mr Bryan McLoughlin shared that the development will accommodate 116 residential aged care bedrooms with additional 21, one, two and three
bedroom independent living units; and ancillary services including a café, lounges and a hairdressing salon. The project aims to accommodate residents with widely-ranging levels of independence, and provide
support as residents age in one place, including dementia-specific care.

effective and integrated delivery of care right across our organisation…… We hope excitement the residents and staff feels carries across to the builders” said Mr McLoughlin.

The Hon. John Watkins AM – Chair Calvary Care Board welcomed our very special guests the Residents and the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary some who reside at Calvary Ryde. He spoke of the wonderful
involvement from the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary who lead us back to our founder the Venerable Mary Potter and those six sisters who arrived here so long ago.

Monsignor Kerry Bayada conducted the blessing with Sister Kathleen Cotterill – Little Company of Mary Province Region Leader conducted the reading.
