6th October 2016
The Chair of the National Board of Little Company of Mary Health Care, the Hon. John Watkins AM, has welcomed the Canberra Liberals’ election commitment to fund an expansion of the emergency department at Calvary Public Hospital in Canberra.
“We welcome the commitment by the Canberra Liberals to fund eight additional short stay unit beds and 12 new nurse positions”, Mr Watkins said.
Mr Watkins said the commitment was in recognition that Calvary Public Hospital remains the primary provider of emergency and acute healthcare services for Canberrans living north of the Lake.
“We also welcome the commitment to upgrade inpatient mental health facilities, and further support for Calvary’s midwifery-led model, to provide for a more consistent quality of care for new and expecting mothers”.
“Calvary Public has proudly been an integral part of the ACT health system and the local community for nearly 40 years, and we look forward to continuing to provide excellent healthcare for the people of Canberra”.
