Calvary builds on Spiritual Care

Over the past three days, 15 Pastoral Care and Mission personnel from Calvary’s hospitals, aged and community care streams have been in Melbourne, attending the annual National Conference of Spiritual Care Australia (SCA). Calvary is a proud supporter of the conference which this year attracted 250 attendees from across Australia and beyond.

The SCA National Conference was an important opportunity for us to gather, learn and share, renew old acquaintances and make new ones.

Our team had the opportunity to meet  with people from diverse callings and many religious denominations working in the fields of Pastoral Care, Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy, and to re-connect with our spiritual foundations and  discover new and unique ways of self-care. We also explored a number of ethical issues common in the field of spiritual care, including discussion and reflection on the Victorian Assisted Dying legislation.

Thanks to our National Director of Mission, Mark Green, who generously supported our Pastoral Care staff to attend; and to all those Calvary sites who approved their attendance. Such support makes a huge difference to strengthening our team and the care we give to our patients, residents and clients.
