Learning together about the Spirit of Calvary and the legacy of Mary Potter
Integration is all about learning from each other. One dimension of care being introduced at most new Calvary homes is spiritual care. Spiritual care is a core concern of our Mission and Pastoral Care teams. Spirituality is a way of speaking about how people find and express meaning and purpose in life. Spirituality was important in the life of Venerable Mary Potter, founder of the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, or as known by most of us, Calvary.
Therefore, it came as no surprise that many of our residents at Calvary Oaklands in Adelaide wanted to learn more about this long and proud history, dating back to the 1880s. Having established regular communion services and Masses for her residents with her local priest, Father Michael (pictured) long before the acquisition, Lifestyle Coordinator Victoria Cardenas knew that many of her residents would enjoy learning more about the Spirit of Calvary.
“We are all Calvary now and my residents feel happy and look forward to more access to spiritual care at our home”, she said after the information session that was prepared in close collaboration with the Mission Team and Father Michael.
