Audrey’s very own Integration Journey
Every employee at Calvary has their own story to tell, their very own biography and career path. However, almost 6000 of us have one thing in common; we joined Calvary as part of the acquisition last year.
Audrey Hunter is one of these ‘not-so-new’ Calvary team members who joined us in November last year, and she has been living the grow, learn and care opportunities ever since.
So, why not hear from Audrey herself?
I was fortunate to join Japara in 2019 as part of the Support Office reception, for which I learned all there was to know about office administration and the support of our staff and homes.
After 13 months, I moved into an Executive Assistant role for a short 8-months, where I learned a great deal about the interactions between our residential aged care homes and senior management.
More recently, I have been working as a Purchasing Officer, first for Japara and now Calvary, and I am part of an amazing, fun-loving team, which I greatly enjoy.
How would you describe your role to people outside of your team?
As Purchasing Officer, I assist our homes with their procurement needs, ranging from small consumables to large equipment orders. I liaise with suppliers, homes, and managers daily. As procurement is one step in the overall supply chain, working effectively with your colleagues is vital in this role; teamwork is everything.
The type, cost, and nature of the goods or services will have a flow-on effect on the whole business – from operations to the final delivery. It is, therefore, rewarding to be able to expedite such assistance for our homes and help with the quality of care for our residents.
How has your work changed since joining Calvary?
It has been quite challenging and exciting to be part of the transition from Japara to Calvary operations.
I now have broader responsibilities, and I do have to know the Calvary organisational structure, including hospitals, which has proven to be very interesting.
Have you faced any challenges?
I had to learn how to swivel-chair across systems while we are moving to new procurement processes and systems, such as the Supplier Portal and F1 financial system.
What are the most exciting moments you have experienced as a member of your Calvary team?
Most exciting has been meeting Alison Jeanne, our Head of Procurement, and her dedicated and fun-loving team across the country. Working closely with such knowledgeable people has been a privilege.
Getting up to go to work is much easier when you know that what you do, as a part of the end-to-end supply chain, has a positive impact on the organisation and how our residents are cared for.
