The partnership in Hobart began in August 2024 and reflects a long-shared commitment to providing excellent private emergency care. It builds on the existing working relationship at Calvary Adelaide Hospital Emergency Department which began in 2021.

A: The Calvary Lenah Valley Emergency Department caters for most types of emergency cases, including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, neurosurgical, gastrointestinal issues, abdominal, obstetrics and maternity (depending on acuity), orthopaedic conditions, sports injuries and a range of other medical and surgical conditions. Some emergencies and conditions are best catered for in a public hospital emergency department, including trauma from road accidents, acute mental health problems, acute stroke and major burns.

A: The southern Tasmanian community will benefit from the trusted and known quality care at Calvary Lenah Valley, combined with Care 24-7’s extensive experience in providing highly specialised emergency care and managing emergency departments in South Australia and Queensland.

A:  Calvary Lenah Valley Hospital and Care 24-7 work together to ensure patient admission to hospital, if required for further surgical or medical care, is seamlessly coordinated.

A:  No referral is required.

A: For Medicare card holders, the standard out-of-pocket fee for all patients aged 17 and over is $260. The presentation fee is payable on all attendances (except Workcover or DVA patients) whether you are admitted to a hospital, discharged from us or transferred to another facility and it applies to all patients (including Medicare card and private health insurance holders). Some private health fund policies include rebates for private emergency department services, so contact your health insurer to check your entitlements.

Non-Medicare entitled patients (e.g. international visitors) are liable for the full cost of all the services provided, with an out-of-pocket fee of $625, plus the full cost of all the services provided.

The fee does not include pharmacy products such as splints, crutches and discharge drugs or the fee of any specialist called by the ED doctor. Charges for these services are determined by the provider, without consultation with the ED.

Radiology (Medical Imaging) services are provided by a third party (I-MED Radiology Network). Any additional charges relating to that service are directly issued to you by I-MED Radiology Network and should be paid directly to them.
