Hiacinta and Jean – Hearts in the chapel

Hiacinta, one of our Mission Volunteers, takes so much pride and care in her role in the Chapel at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital. Hiacinta comes in once a week to help set up the chapel for mass.

“Hiacinta is a beautiful expression of humility in the work she does in the Calvary North Adelaide Hospital Maternal Heart Chapel.  Hiacinta prepares for Mass every Wednesday which includes organising the readings for the day, creating floral displays for the altar, replenishing the holy water in the fonts and checking church supplies and maintenance of the church.  Hiacinta has also led a prayer group prior to Mass which prays for the individual departments at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital. Thank you Hiacinta for your calm demeanour, spiritual grace and sense of humour.  We are blessed to have you!

Jean, another of our amazing Mission Volunteers, helps Calvary North Adelaide hospital with the archiving of important information and even takes her role off site to create beautiful alter cloths for our Chapel.

“Jean Burt has contributed many hours of volunteer service over the years.  Her knowledge of the heritage of Calvary North Adelaide and the journey of the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary has been enormously valuable to us throughout the years.  Jean has been creating order in our Calvary North Adelaide Archives and always goes above and beyond her role in assisting the Mission Team. Jean recently sewed altar cloths for Calvary Central Districts Chapel and Mary Potter Hospice Chapel and searched at home among her treasures for appropriate fabric.  Jean Burt’s Mother donated several of the statues in the Calvary Chapel 80 years ago! Thank you to Jean from the Mission Team.”
