Cardiac Centre
Cardiology is the study and treatment of heart disorders. It involves treating all areas related to the heart and arteries, including tests, angioplasty and heart surgery.
Cardiac services are provided 24 hours a day 365 days a year. The hospital prides itself on providing a Cardiac Centre of Excellence unparalleled in the South Australian private sector, there when you need it – 24 hours a day.
The brand new Cardiac Unit unit has 42 private beds with 20 hard wired monitored rooms and the rest with Telemetry units. Our unit cares for patients who have had cardiac surgery, angiography and chest pain. In addition we offer a direct admission service for patients (Cardiac Direct) who require direct access to one of our beds under the care of their own cardiologist or the on call cardiologist. This service is available if you are visiting your GP with a Cardiac Complaint.
We have a dedicated group of nurses who have specialty cardiac training.
In the event of an emergency such as chest pain, patients can access the Emergency Department who will arrange for specialist treatment and admission as required.

Our specialties include Angiography and Angioplasty, Electrophysiology and Neuroradiology. We have three new state of the art Siemens Angiography labs including the only robotic hybrid theatre in the state.
- Angiograms are tests performed by our team of cardiologists. They provide detailed images of the coronary structure, and help our team deliver a faster and more accurate diagnosis. Angiograms are performed as part of the treatment for heart disease and heart attacks, and are carried out in our Cardiovascular Angiography Unit.
- Angioplasty is used to treat blocked arteries. A catheter with a small balloon on the end is placed into the blocked area. The balloon is then inflated to open the blocked vessel. A stent (a small metal device that acts like a scaffold) is then used to hold the artery open.
