2020 Staff Christmas gift – Behind the scenes

Shirley, Jan and Shelly have done it again – sourcing and coordinating a fantastic selection of good from around SA (and beyond) to bring some Christmas cheer to Calvary SA staff and volunteers.

We prefer to source products from SA, often from small family businesses. Despite post bushfire / COVID difficulties for companies, they have been extremely helpful and generous.

Sourcing for the gifts starts as early as February and often includes some fun visits to suppliers where we meet the family owners and get to see the products being produced.

Please support these suppliers who have been so generous to us.

Thank you to these ladies, and all the other volunteers who gave up time to pack and deliver the gifts.

A supplier to the Calvary SA Christmas gifts for several years now, Shirley and Jan enjoy visiting the factory with its mouth-watering aromas.

The Baylies story is one of love and commitment to a cause; an unrelenting passion for quality, tradition, excellence and of course amazing food.

Inspired by the vision of owners Robert and Angela Bell, the Baylies journey began in a small kitchen; quickly transforming into a small local facility based in Strathalbyn, South Australia.

“Over the past 25 years we have had the pleasure of developing Baylies Epicurean Delights from a home-based, small country kitchen to the business it is today.”

Shirly, Jan and Shelly travelled to the Yorke Peninsula to taste-test the goods., with the gin in the Christmas gifts hand-bottled especially for Calvary.

Sunny Hill Farm was settled in 1872 by the Colliver family and has remained in that name until this day. Current owner and descendant Sam Colliver and his wife Olivia are the founders, owners and operators of Sunny Hill Distillery.

The gin is made from 100% raw wheat which is grown on the farm. The grain is mashed, fermented, distilled and bottled entirely on site.

The Pink Gin won a silver medal at the San Francisco world spirits competition 2020 and the Dry Gin won a bronze. The base product Vodka won Australia Best Pure Neutral Vodka as judged by the London World Spirits Competition.
