This is an exciting opportunity to join the Acute Medical Unit at Calvary
Healthcare Tasmania. The Medical Unit is an area of growth within the
organisation and is currently looking for a suitably qualified Registered Nurse to
assist the Clinical Nurse Manager to facilitate excellence and quality in patient
care through proactive leadership.

The position requires strong customer service focus and a passion for
supporting the provision of excellence in Healthcare standards. Experience in
Acute Care is essential and post graduate qualification in Cardiac Nursing would
be advantageous but not essential.

Preamble:

Successful applicants for this position will facilitate the learning and teaching of undergraduate students of nursing within a designated health care setting. The professional experience placement (PEP) facilitator will be mentored by an academic from the School of Nursing and Midwifery and will be responsible for providing direct support, instruction and supervision of student nurses within the healthcare setting. The PEP facilitator will be required to assess student nurses, liaise and negotiate with relevant stakeholders, and provide guidance to both students and their nurse preceptors. The PEP facilitator will be responsible to the Head, School of Nursing and Midwifery through an appointed academic member of staff.

Responsibilities

The PEP Facilitator will be required to: Support
Provide undergraduate students with ongoing professional guidance and mentoring;
Identify any issues which may impact on individual student performance and progression;
Provide students with one-on-one clinical supervision, and to develop individual student learning strategies and plans;
Demonstrate best practice learning and teaching methodologies;
Be present and available for students and staff for the duration of the designated professional experience placement.

Liaison

Liaise with SNM staff to ensure the curriculum is delivered effectively;
Liaise with health care managers and staff to identify learning needs of individual students;
Collaborate and liaise with relevant staff to ensure that each student has appropriate learning experiences to meet the aims of the unit and course.

Assessment

Consistent with national competency standards for the registered nurse, undertake in-practice assessment of student nurses according to requirements as stated in the unit outline;
Maintain regular accurate objective documentation pertaining to student academic progression, learning goals and achievements;
In conjunction with academic staff from the SNM, organize and participate in relevant formative and summative assessment processes in those units with a PEP focus.

Professional Experience Placement Facilitation Expression of Interest Calvary Healthcare Tasmania South (during student clinical placements)

Expressions of Interest are invited from nursing staff for a clinical facilitator in Semester 1,2 and 5 of the Bachelor of Nursing course. The staff member appointed will be employed Monday-Friday 32 hours per week (negotiable) during student clinical placement periods. Also includes significant planning time outside usual semesters.

Selection Criteria:

Essential

1. Evidence of current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority.
2. A tertiary qualification in nursing.
3. A substantive background of clinical experience and expertise within a designated area.
4. Highly motivated and enthusiastic with a genuine interest in promoting teaching and learning in nursing practice.
5. Ability to work within teams and with students.
6. Current Police Check

Desirable
Evidence of scholarship through practice.

The Rehabilitation Unit on the St Johns Campus is seeking an experienced and motivated physiotherapist to join our great team of experienced health professionals.

A 4 month locum is required to cover a Maternity Leave vacancy commencing June 1st 2015.

The role will involve working as a team member in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal, neurological, spinal, amputee, geriatric and brain injured patients.

Essential Criteria:
- Recognised qualification in Physiotherapy
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Sound knowledge and skills in the area of Rehabilitation
- Ability to effectively manage a fluctuating and varied rehabilitation caseload
- Ability to exercise professional judgement

An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our Nursing team in the Day Surgery and POCU (post-operative care unit) at St Johns. This role is to work within a multidisciplinary team.

It is an ideal position for a dynamic individual who has a thorough understanding of the care required for patients undergoing inpatient, day-patient and outpatient procedures.

This role encompasses teaching of the specialty to beginner practitioners as well as being a support person for the existing team for day-to-day management. It is expected that the successful candidate will encourage and support all staff with ongoing quality activities and educational requirements. It also involves liaison with the Recovery and Day Surgery units at the Lenah Valley campus.

Essential criteria
- Registration with AHPRA
- A minimum of 5 years post graduate experience working within the peri-operative environment
- A minimum of 3 years working within a Recovery or Day Surgery specialty including care of paediatrics
- Evidence of continuation of own competence across all aspects of the specialty
- Effective communication skills
- Sound knowledge of the management of an unconscious airway
- Thorough knowledge of emergency management techniques
- Effective time management skills
- Proven ability to educate others

Desirable skills:
- Relevant post-graduate education
- Previous experience within a similar role
